Extended description and collection history
A Double Old Fashioned for cocktails on the rocks, whiskey, and aperitifs, with a wide shape and a bold presence on the table.
Negronis, Americanos, Gin Tonics, and soft drinks find a glass with a personal character, also suitable for professional service.
The iconic Memento Originale bally glass in the new Double Old Fashioned shape, made of color-infused glass using hand-blowing techniques that give each piece the uniqueness and personality that are the unmistakable hallmark of the Memento brand. A unique creative process that, through the liveliness of the bubbles, captures the absence of color and material, giving the glass its distinctive and original aesthetic dimension. A perfect balance of color, beauty, artisanal manual skill, creativity, and practicality of use, the new Double Old Fashioned cocktail glass is designed for the general public, but also for industry professionals, who can thus enrich their creations with the Memento Originale experience, embellishing every moment of conviviality.
A symbol of the cocktail world and drinking culture, particularly for drinks served "on the rocks," the Double Old Fashioned glass has deep roots in American culture and mixology. In fact, it takes its name from the Old Fashioned, one of the first recognized and codified cocktails in history, dating back to 1806. Made with whiskey, sugar, Angostura bitters, and ice, it was originally served in the glass of the same name (which was smaller), but over time, the Double version became common: more room for ice and ingredients. Since then, the cocktail world has evolved, but the Double Old Fashioned glass has remained a timeless classic, once a symbol of refinement and virility, now something central to pop culture and the ritual of the aperitif. Americano, Negroni, Negroni Sbagliato, Milano Torino, Gin Tonic, Mojito, various Spritzes, and much more... Its wide shape is perfect for adding large ice cubes, maintaining the ideal temperature and keeping the flavor intact without watering down the drink too much!
With its roots in tradition, the Memento Originale Double Old Fashioned glass adapts perfectly to the most refined contexts and cocktails, but with its colors, it adds that touch of liveliness and style to the cocktail moment!
A perfect pairing with a Memento Originale Red Double Old Fashioned glass? A Pisco Sour!
PISCO SOUR
• Pisco, lime juice, sugar syrup, egg white, Angostura bitters, ice.
• This South American cocktail has a beautiful white foam that contrasts magnificently with a colored glass.
There are many cocktails that are best served in a colored glass: Caipirinha, Caipiroska, Old Fashioned, Sazerac, Negroni, Boulevardier, Vieux Carré, Rusty Nail, White Russian, Midori Sour, Purple Rain, Blue Hawaii, Aviation, Rum Punch... but also Rum, Whiskey on the rocks... not to mention Virgin Mojitos and the whole world of more sophisticated non-alcoholic drinks; there is no limit to the imagination. All these cocktails are perfect to be served in a colorful and eye-catching Double Old Fashioned glass, where the reflections and robustness of the glass, combined with its capacity, enhance the sensory experience of the drink.
And the Gin Tonic? For Churchill, "It has saved more lives and minds than all the doctors in the Empire!"... a colored glass can only add an eye-catching visual element and improve the entire tasting experience! How? Colors can influence the perception of flavor and mood.
The search for the most aromatic and unique Gin, with the perfect mix of botanicals, the right tonic water to enhance its aroma, the perfect garnish... pepper, cucumber, berries, citrus, or cardamom... a true aficionado cannot afford to choose the wrong glass.
So, make room for garnishes that enhance the color and colors that enhance the Gin! A blue glass, for example, can give a sense of freshness and refinement. The contrast between the blue of the glass and the transparency of the Gin Tonic, with the bubbles reflecting the light, creates a refreshing visual effect, particularly suitable for a summer evening. Perfect for a classic Gin, with the blue highlighting the bright green of a lime slice. A Green glass evokes freshness. Cucumber and other garnishes are natural elements that harmonize visually with this glass. Offer a natural and sophisticated contrast: pink grapefruit and a sprig of rosemary. Red fruits or pomegranate can be used as a contrast, or to garnish a red or orange glass for a vibrant and eye-catching look, ideal for winter parties.
A colored Double Old Fashioned glass can enhance the appearance of many cocktails, especially those with vibrant colors and layers of liquids. By choosing brightly colored cocktails, you can really make the most of the visual effect of the glass.
"We can thus abandon ourselves, almost a bit defenseless, and let ourselves be enveloped by the strength of color; confirm that, in our work, making beautiful things and doing them well, even before being an entrepreneurial choice or a market strategy, is a personal necessity and a pleasure." Roberto Zani
A Memento Originale Double Old Fashioned glass is a way to enhance the very aesthetics of a drink, even the most iconic and appreciated ones.
Care, use, and safety
- Wash the product before first use and check that it is intact.
- It is dishwasher safe. Place it stably, leaving space between pieces to avoid contact and impacts during the cycle; choose a delicate program suitable for glass and a non-abrasive detergent.
- By hand, use lukewarm water, neutral detergent, and a soft sponge. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth, without forcing the rim or twisting the stems of wine glasses.
- Avoid thermal shocks: do not pour very hot liquids into cold glass and do not suddenly cool a hot object. For cups and mugs, bring the glass to temperature gradually.
- Do not use in a conventional oven, microwave, or over flames and hot plates. The product is intended for serving, not for cooking or heating food.
- Avoid impacts, falls, utensils that could strike the rim, scouring pads, and abrasive products. Do not forcibly stack shapes not designed to be stackable.
- Do not use pieces with cracks, chips, or damaged edges. Such damage does not fall under the normal aesthetic variations of artisanal glass.
- In case of breakage, collect fragments with protective gloves and clean thoroughly. For the disposal of glass and packaging, follow your local municipality's rules.
