Collection: Tables

Tables are six large limited edition centerpieces, in pewter or pewter and blown glass “designed to give meaning to the table and make it more magical and ritualistic. Extraordinary interpretations by Ettore Sottsass of traditional materials, in the highly iconographic language that distinguishes this great designer.

«Glass is a crazy material, very mysterious, transparent, fragile. Behind the glass there is, needless to say, a universe of centuries-old experiences. On the occasion of one of the first Triennials, after the war, they asked me to make a glass and I remember that back then we made balls with a tartan design, that is, there were light and dark lines that intertwined. It was my first experience of this activity. Glass, like ceramics, has another strange quality: it enters the fire and you don't know what goes inside. Then suddenly an object emerges that is pure because it is burned by fire, an object of total purity, of total physical intangibility. Like a vision. You are truly involved in this glass process. Glass is a spectacle." Ettore Sottsass

Ettore Sottsass's design path takes us, in 2004, to the encounter between the lightness and color of Murano glass with the strong architectural construction of the pewter parts. The transparency of the glass does not hide the structure of the metal, it discreetly contains and protects the good fruits and offers them to our desire as a precious commodity.

Materials:
1. Cast pewter (alloy of tin, antimony and copper) and blown Murano glass
2. Welding and polishing by hand
3. Pewter casting finished by hand with welding and brush polishing operations
