Collection: Guests of Life

«We often tend to forget that we are guests of life. We are born without wanting and knowing it in a specific time and place and, without wanting and knowing it, the body we have received as a biological inheritance spontaneously unfolds its wonderful and, sometimes, terrible processes...". Remo Bodei

The Ospiti della vita collection offers the homonymous essay by the philosopher Remo Bodei , returned in a small hand-bound book-manifesto, 10 meters long, for which Michele De Lucchi and Giuseppe Rivadossi have created two special cases in leather and aluminium, and wooden.

Guests of life is the theme proposed to Remo Bodei which gave rise to a philosophical reflection on our time and the relationship with things. The essay, written for Numa in March 2006, is published in a small volume in a limited edition, handmade according to the precious techniques of art publications.

For this book – printed on fine paper from the Sicars paper mill in Catania, texts composed in Linotype with Garamond font – Michele De Lucchi and Giuseppe Rivadossi have designed two limited edition cases, made of leather and aluminum and wood which, together with the book, they will become part of Numa's 2006 Limited Edition collections.

Appointed senator for life of the Italian Republic, Remo Bodei was a professor of philosophy at the University of California, Los Angeles, after having taught for a long time at the Scuola Normale Superiore and at the University of Pisa. He first dealt with classical German idealism and aesthetics, more recently with theories of individuality and logical and temporal anomalies.
